Raised in the small town of Oakland, New Jersey, acoustic singer/songwriter Emily Kern has been writing and performing music for over a decade. She taught herself the drums and guitar and was the main songwriter of her first band for about two years until the band went their separate ways.
In the spring of 2012, Emily recorded and produced her first EP ‘Same Old Thing’. She then went on tour to promote that EP up until the end of 2013. She released her first single ‘Small Town’ in September of 2013, which was accompanied by her first music video. While playing shows she began to write new songs for what would become her first album. She went into the studio in the winter of 2014 to start recording ‘Between the Lines’ and after months of hard work, her first album was released in July 2014.
She has performed on many stages, been nominated for 3 Jersey Music Awards, and has even been featured on different online radio stations all over the world. Some of the venues include The Stone Pony, The Stanhope House, Mexicali Live, and Six Flags. She has opened for national acts including Aaron Carter, Tyler Hilton, Olivia Somerlyn, Deleasa, Kingsfoil, Sparks the Rescue, Dion Roy, Jill Sobule, etc. Emily took a break from playing shows in 2015 to focus on writing new music and working on her second album.
Towards the end of 2017, she announced that she would be releasing new music in 2018 along with a new tour. Her first show back after nearly three years was at Debonair Music Hall (formally known as Mexicali Live) to a packed house.
